Harley-Davidson appoints chief operating officer

Harley-Davidson Motor Co. has appointed Senior Vice President Michelle Kumbier to the position of chief operating officer, the company said Tuesday.

Kumbier will be responsible for planning and delivering the company’s global business results, effective immediately, Harley said. She will have oversight of the company’s U.S. and international markets, in addition to her current responsibilities.

Kumbier joined Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson in 1997 in operations purchasing and has since taken on roles with increasing responsibility in purchasing, strategic planning, new business development and parts and accessories. Most recently, she has served as senior vice president of Product & Operations, leading a team of more than 4,500 employees worldwide.
