ASHEBORO — “Go Dog. Go!” Second Annual Motorcycle Poker Run and Classic Car Cruise In will be held at Cox Harley-Davidson, 2795 N.C. 134, Asheboro, and at participating host locations in Randolph County.
This community outreach event on Saturday, Sept. 23, is set up to honor veterans, troops and families and to promote and support service dog teams and programs in the area.
Poker Run cost is $ 10 for bike registration at 10 a.m. and $ 10 per hand for 5-card stud. The ride route travels through Asheboro, out to Ramseur and back through downtown Asheboro as poker cards are picked up at various host sites. Kickstands go up at 11 a.m. The ride is approximately 2 1/2 hours.
There is a $ 10 entry fee for the Classic Car Cruise In, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The event will include a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, door prizes, live music and tents/tables set up by area clubs, groups and organizations. Other veteran organizations are invited to set up and sell concessions or products.
This year’s event includes Rescue Row, an area set aside for adoptable dogs.
The Asheboro hosting group, AMVETS, is a veterans’ organization that includes Sons of AMVETS, the Ladies’ Auxiliary and the AMVETS Riders, a motorcycle group.
