CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – The Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival is Saturday in Carson City.
Grammy-nominated country recording Artist Ty Herndon, The Rednex and Prezident headline the event at Battle Born Harley Davidson.
The event is a fundraiser for the children of Howell. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy responded with others to a report of domestic violence on Aug. 15, 2015, on Montez Drive. Jonathon Pope, 30, appeared at the door with a gun as Howell approached the home. They both fired and they both were hit. Pope died at the scene and Howell, who wore a bullet-proof vest, died after being taken to Carson-Tahoe Regional Medical Center.
Patrick Kilpatrick, who has appeared in more than 120 movies and television shows, will be master of ceremonies. Other performers include Audioboxx, Musicole with Michael Coleman, Stereo Galaxy, Canyon White, Southbound Train, Mo’z Motley Blues, Trey Stone, Xing Bridges, Voodoo Cats all playing as well as comedian Tom Daw. Former heavyweight boxing champion Leon Spinks is scheduled to be there, organizers said in a statement.
The day’s activities include a motorcycle show and shine, silent auction, raffle, food and drinks.
Tickets for the concert are $ 20 per adult. Children 12 and under are free.
