A 74-year-old Fox Lake woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash about 4:45 p.m. Friday on Route 137 near Interstate 94 in Green Oaks, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman was the front-seat passenger in a 2019 Chevrolet Sonic driven by a 76-year-old Fox Lake man, who was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries, according to the release.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevrolet was traveling east on Route 137 and either tried to make a U-turn or left turn onto I-94. A 2007 Ford 500 driven by a 63-year-old Libertyville woman was traveling west on Route 137 at the same location and struck the passenger side of the Chevrolet, authorities said.
A 32-year-old Wauconda man on a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was directly behind the Ford dropped the vehicle and slid on the ground to avoid making an impact with the car.
The driver of the Ford also was taken to Advocate Condell with serious injuries.
The motorcyclist was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit. The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and is scheduling an autopsy for the woman who was killed.
