Woman in Saturday crash identified, speed believed a factor

Bike blessing to take place Saturday

The Kenosha Harley-Owners Group’s annual Blessing of the Bikes will take place Saturday.

Participants will gather at 8 a.m. at Uke’s, 5995 120th Ave., for breakfast and registration. At 11 a.m., bikes will depart for Calvary United Church of Christ, 1511 Wilmot Ave., Twin Lakes, where the blessing will occur.

After the blessing, riders can return to Uke’s for festivities and lunch.

Executives from the Harley-Davidson Motor Co. will be joining in the ride to kick off the 115th Harley-Davidson anniversary. All makes of bikes are welcome.

Candidates to address local Dems

KENOSHA — Paul Soglin and Jeff Rumbaugh, candidates for governor, will address the next meeting of the Kenosha County Democratic Party.

Open to the public, the meeting begins at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Union Club, 3030 39th Ave.

Observatory to host open houses

DOVER — Open houses will take place Friday at Saturday at Modine-Benstead Observatory, 112 63rd St.

The Racine Astronomical Society is hosting the event, 8:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Weather permitting, on Friday night, visitors can glimpse planets, star clusters, galaxies, nebulae and the moon. On Saturday, check out sun spots and solar flares.

Free shredding available Saturday

KENOSHA — Free shredding will be available 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Thrivent Financial, 6121 Green Bay Road.

Donations will be accepted for Royal Family Kids, which aids foster children.

Volunteers sought at ElderGarten

KENOSHA — St. Matthew’s Lakefront ElderGarten, 5835 Fourth Ave., is hosting two volunteer work days to help prepare the site for spring planting.

The ElderGarten features raised beds for community gardening for nearby seniors.

Volunteers are needed 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday as well as May 19.

An opening festival will be held 2 to 5 p.m. May 19, with music, food trucks, kids arts and crafts and senior information booths.

Vendor fair to aid Shop with a Cop

KENOSHA — A vendor and craft fair to support the Shop with a Cop program will take place 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at United Auto Workers Local 72 headquarters, 3615 Washington Road.

There will be more than 50 vendors and crafters, as well as a bake sale and drawnings.

Church hosting purse, jewelry sale

KENOSHA — A purse and jewelry sale takes place 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 4600 60th St.

All proceeds will go to funding our the youth mission trip.
