A woman driving a U-Haul truck while drunk in Maryland Friday struck and killed a 23-year-old motorcyclist, police say.
Kayla Nicole Joy, 21, of Odenton, pulled a 2013 GMC box truck out of a parking lot near Annapolis Road and Berger Street, close to a U-Haul storefront, police say.
Joy turned in front of a northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, which struck the truck, police say. Police say she failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle.
Officers responded about 8:30 p.m.
Ian Gregory Vangenderen, of Odtenton, was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
Joy was not hurt in the crash, according to police. She was arrested and faces eight charges including manslaughter by a vehicle with gross and criminal negligence, homicide by a motor vehicle and driving under the influence.
