After taking last year off due to the pandemic, the longest running charity golf tournament in the county is back.

Greater Douglas United Way will have the 40th Dave Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament at a new venue: Bar Run Golf + RV Resort, on Thursday September 8th.

Executive Director Bryan Trenkle said the event contributes to the organizations annual fundraising campaign. The tournament is a four-person scramble with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start. During the tournament, hole-in-one contests provide the opportunity for golfers to win a Harley Davidson motorcycle, golf club packages or a golf vacation. A closest-to-the-pin contest will offer cash prizes. An awards presentation and a meal will also be included.

Team or individual reservations can be made by contacting United Way at 672-1734. Entry fee is $125 per player. The field is limited to thirty-six teams. The event is sponsored by Umpqua Bank, US Bank and Banner Bank.
