WEST LAFAYETTE – Purdue President Mitch Daniels mixed a little business with pleasure Monday, using a campus recruiting trip by Harley-Davidson to test drive the LiveWire, the company’s new electric motorcycle.
Daniels, who is an avid rider and owns a traditional Harley, suited-up for a short, winding ride behind the Boilermaker Special from Westwood, the president’s home, to the Engineering Gateway Arch on Stadium Avenue.
There, he met with Michelle Kumbier, Harley-Davidson Motor Co.’s senior vice president and chief operating officer, who was on campus with other company representatives to recruit Purdue students.
Daniels tweeted about Harley-Davidson’s new bike: “Got a free morning ride on new LiveWire. 50 years of riding but first time on an electric bike. Awesome technology.”
