A collision between a motorcycle and an SUV landed the bike rider in the hospital.
The crash happened Tuesday, September 10,around 11:44 AM on Sandwich Road near Weatherdeck Drive.
Bourne Police Lieutenant Jonathan R. MacDougall said the operator of a black 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was behind a gray 2008 Toyota 4Runner. Both vehicles were on Sandwich Road headed in the direction of the Bourne Bridge, Lt. MacDougall said.
The driver of the Toyota was approaching Weatherdeck Drive and preparing to turn left off Sandwich Road, the lieutenant said. The motorcycle rider, identified as Dana Stulce, 69, from Plymouth, attempted to pass the Toyota, as it was turning left, by going around the left side of the vehicle, Lt. MacDougall said.
“I can’t explain the thought processes of some people,” he said.
The two vehicles collided on the double yellow line in the road. The impact caused Mr. Stulce to be thrown from his motorcycle. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision, Lt. MacDougall said.
“They did not appear to be life-threatening,” he said, adding that the driver of the Toyota was not hurt.
Mr. Stulce was issued citations for marked lanes violation and failure to use care in passing, Lt. MacDougall said.
