The CHP is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash off a rural road northeast of Cloverdale.
The crash could have happened sometime Saturday but wasn’t discovered until Sunday morning when a person walking along Geysers Road spotted a motorcycle down an embankment and called for help about 10:10 a.m.
CHP Officer David deRutte Monday said the 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle and male rider were found about 50 feet down the embankment.
A preliminary investigation indicated the rider had been south on Geysers Road, about ½ mile south of Preston Drive, when he ran off the roadway on a sweeping left curve. The bike reached the dirt shoulder and then went over the edge, deRutte said.
Speed, when the crash happened and other circumstances remained under investigation. The man’s name wasn’t available early Monday from the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office.
