ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Ardmore is welcoming about 900 Harley Davidson bikers for the three day Harley Owners Group rally.
This year will be the first time Ardmore has hosted a HOG rally since 2010.
“A HOG Rally is the only event that you are going to have where people come to leave, because they are not going to be sitting around here during the day, they’re going to be out riding their motorcycles,” Rally Coordinator Donna Hingtgen said.
Donna Hingtgen tells us how she has seen the HOG Rally grow year after year.
“This year we have people coming from 25 different states, we also have a couple flying in from Australia,” Hingten said.
Main Street Authority Board Member Marty Auten is looking forward to the amount of tax revenue it’ll bring to the city.
“I know it’s in the millions of dollars, like I said, there’s a ton of tax revenue when you figure in the hotels, when you figure in the restaurants, all the retail business that happens and Main Street and all those people go out of their way to bring the attendees down there, ” Auten said.
The rally will kick off this Thursday around 5 p.m. with a party on Main Street for everyone to enjoy.
The rally will continue into Friday and Saturday at the Ardmore Convention Center where different events like bike shows, stunt shows and guided rides to the states most popular attractions will be held outside of the Ardmore convention center.
Calvin Howell is a HOG member and drove from Georgia to attend the event.
Howell and his wife have attended over 50 rally’s and have traveled through most of the lower 48.
“A motorcycle is the original convertible, if you want to see this country, do it on a bike,” Howell said.
The event will end Saturday with about 300 motorcyclist riding through Main Street for a parade that will start at four in the afternoon.
