LIVINGSTON, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) – Louisiana State Troopers are investigating a motorcycle fatality that happened Saturday March 31 in Livingston parish.
Wayne W. Whitfield, 64, of Bridge City was killed in the single vehicle crash on LA Hwy 22 east of LA Hwy 16 in Livingston Parish around 3 p.m.
According to the initial investigation,,the crash occurred while Whitfield was traveling westbound on LA Hwy 22 on a 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle. For reasons still under investigation, as Whitfield entered a right hand curve his Harley ran off of the roadway to the left entering into a ditch ejecting him in the process.
Despite the fact that Whitfield was wearing a DOT approved helmet, he suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.
He was transported from the scene via Acadian AirMed to North Oaks Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Impairment is not suspected,however, a toxicology report on Whitfield has been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
