Both Riders of Motorcycle Accident on Hwy 36 Received Major Injuries, Says CHP – Redheaded Blackbelt

Press release from the CHP:

On 07-07-2020 at approximately 1035 PM, Humboldt Area CHP was notified of a motorcycle collision on SR-36 east of Graybrook Lane. A preliminary investigation by CHP revealed that 39 year old Harry Smith, of Rio Dell, was driving his 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on SR-36, east of Graybrook Ln. 40 year old Lisa Jennings, of McKinleyville, was a passenger on the back of the motorcycle. For unknown reasons, Mr. Smith was unable to maintain control of the motorcycle and both riders were ejected and suffered major injuries. Emergency medical personnel transported both parties to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Alcohol is considered to have been a factor in this collision and Mr. Smith was placed under arrest for felony DUI. He was subsequently released from custody for treatment of his injuries.
