Blood drive brings republicans and democrats together

Republicans and democrats on Capitol Hill came together to donate hundreds of pints of blood.

It was a sign of unity following last week’s shooting that injured Congressman Steve Schalise and four others. A routine blood drive made all the more significan after last week’s shooting.

Republicans and democrats came one by one to show support to Steve Scalise. Staff from both parties showed up in full force to donate.  Congressman A. Drew Ferguson says, “We saw how important it was for Steve to have access to these resources, the doctors were able to give him the resources he needed.”

Congressman Pete Aguilar says, “Steve Scalise is a friend a colleague we want to do everything we can to support his efforts.”

“When tragedies strike, people come together; just like Americans always do,” says Mike Pence.

Organizers say each pint given can save up to three lives.

Erie is hosting its own blood drive at Harley Davidson on Sunday, the 25th from 10a-2p. The Third Annual Heart to Heart Blood Drive will give an entry for each donation to win a $ 250 Harley Davidson or VISA gift card.

Harley Davidson is located at 3712 West 12th Street.
