RAPID CITY S.D. – The 79th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is still a little more than four months away, but two major players are hoping to grow motorcycle tourism year-round.
The Sturgis Buffalo Chip and Black Hills Harley-Davidson are partnering to draw more people to the Rally. They’ll also ramp up their year-round advertising to draw more people to the dealership at Exit 55 and to the Chip.
In a press release sent to NewsCenter1, “Black Hills Harley-Davidson will leverage the Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s award-winning marketing team to create and distribute content about the premier shopping experience found on its property, including its lineup of new motorcycle models, after-market products, apparel and other merchandise. Promotions are also intended, in addition to getting the word out about the availability of motorcycle rentals and onsite repair and maintenance services.”
“They know the motorcyclist and the motorcycle world, we have a little bit of that with the Buffalo Chip as well,” said Buffalo Chip owner Rod Woodruff. “And so if we can share together and bring more people here on motorcycles on vacations during the nicest parts of the year, we’re all in heaven.”
The Chip and Harley-Davidson also hope their new partnership will draw younger riders to the Black Hills and extend the life and sustainability of the Rally.
“Let’s promote and have things for the younger generation as well,” said Black Hills Harley-Davidson General Manager Terry Rymer. “And keep them interested in two wheels, and everything two wheels. That will take care of itself.”
The Sturgis Rally kicks off on August 2.
