A TWENTY TWO year old man was killed on Thursday morning on the Ruth First Highway. According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen, the accident occurred on the south bound carriageway.
“When we arrived on scene we discovered the motorcyclist had lost control of his Harley Davidson before colliding with the armco-barrier. He was found in the centre median and suffered fatal injuries. Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do to assist him and he was declared deceased on arrival. The scene was handed over to the South African Police Services for further investigation and processing,” Van Reenen said.
The fatal crash comes a week after Durban North SAPS opened a case of culpable homicide. In that incident two people were killed while a third was seriously injured.
According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North station, investigations were ongoing.
“It’s alleged one of the drivers travelling on the M4 northbound crossed over the centre median before crashing head-on into another vehicle. Two people were sadly killed while a third is in a critical condition. It’s unclear what factors led to the crash but we are investigating the case and I can confirm a culpable homicide case has been opened against one of the drivers,” he said.
