Bellevue man dies in U.S. 20 motorcycle crash

GREEN CREEK TOWNSHIP – A Bellevue man died Monday after his tri-motorcycle went off the road on U.S. 20 west of Clyde.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Fremont post, Ray Beier, Jr., 66 of Bellevue was riding eastbound on U.S. 20 when he lost control of his Harley Davidson tri-motorcycle, was ejected from his bike just east of mile post 23 and died in a crash.

The crash occurred Monday around 3:18 p.m. west of Clyde in Green Creek Township.

Beier pulled off the side of U.S. 20 and continued eastbound on the berm of the highway for more than a mile before driving off the paved roadway, through a ditch and into a farm field.

 The motorcycle overturned in the field, ejecting Beier from the vehicle.

Beier was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to a highway patrol release.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

The Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Clyde/Green Springs Fire and EMS, Madison Motors Towing, and the Sandusky County Coroner’s Office assisted the highway patrol at the scene.
