Bellevue man dies in motorcycle crash

GREEN CREEK TWP. — A Bellevue man died Monday after his motorcycle went off the road just west of Clyde.

Just before 3:20 p.m., Ray Beier Jr., 66, of Bellevue, was riding his 2013 Harley-Davidson tri-motorcycle east on U.S. 20 in Green Creek Township.

He pulled over to the side because of issues controlling the motorcycle and continued to drive on the berm for more than a mile before going off the road completely, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol News release.

The motorcycle went through a ditch and into a farmer’s field. Beier was thrown off the motorcycle when it overturned. He wasn’t wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release states.

The Fremont post of the Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash and troopers do not believe alcohol is a factor. The Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, the county coroner, Clyde and Green Springs fire and Madison Motors Towing helped at the scene.
