Excessive speed might have contributed to a motorcycle crash Saturday in Kenosha County where an Antioch woman died and several members of an Illinois motorcycle group were injured, according to Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 12400 block of Highway W, and the investigation revealed that a group of motorcyclists from Illinois was driving southbound when the lead driver riding a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, according to Sgt. Mark Malecki.
The driver lost control of his motorcycle and it slid into another motorcycle, a 2010 Harley Davidson, whose driver also had a passenger, later identified as Lisa Fagan, 47, of Antioch, Malecki added.
“This created a domino effect and another motorcycle (1998 Kawasaki) also crashed,” Malecki said in a statement.
Fagan had serious injuries, and the Randall Township Fire and Rescue called a Flight for Life helicopter, but when it arrived, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Malecki.
There were five other injuries reported in the crash ranging from minor to significant, he said.
The roadway was closed during the investigation, and “at this time speed appears to have contributed to this crash,” according to Malecki.
