American Legion Commander teaches Auburn Hills students how to properly fold a flag

Auburn Hills American Legion Post 143 Cmdr. Robert Schmaltz and post 143 past 18th District Cmdr. Joseph Lafnear will conduct a proper flag-folding demonstration on Dec. 8 for the students at Auburn Elementary School in Auburn Hills.

Previously, Auburn Elementary School secretary Beth Collyer, on behalf of Principal Jodie Middleton, had contacted Lafnear about the need for a new American flag for the school flag pole. Lafnear contacted Schmaltz about the request and it was decided the post would provide the flag and conduct the presentation.

For more information, call Joseph Lafnear at 248-739-9307.
