Alcohol Played Role in East Bethel Motorcycle Crash that Killed 1

Both motorcycles had been northbound on Highway 65 in East Bethel when the crash occurred just before 3 p.m. Saturday. The incident report says the driver of a 2011 Harley  Davidson, driving slightly ahead of the second bike, a 1995 Harley, attempted to turn right at 184th Avenue and was struck by the trailing bike.

All four occupants were thrown from the bikes. None of the four was wearing a helmet. Gilbert was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 1995 Harley, 56-year-old Gregory William Ettawageshik, and the passenger of the lead bike were airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the 2011 Harley was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
