Safety seat check-up

West Texas Book Festival
The West Texas Book Festival will continue with author presentations from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Abilene Public Library, 202 Cedar St. A lunch program and award presentation will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature, 102 Cedar St., followed by a workshop, “20 Tips for Better Writing,” from 1-2 p.m. at the library. Heels & Wheels
The Heels & Wheels Duathlon will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Nelson Park, 2020 Zoo Lane. The course will be a two-mile run, followed by a 12-mile bike ride and another two-mile run. Homecoming
MERKEL — The Merkel homecoming will continue with the Exes Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at Merkel High School, followed by a program at 9 a.m. Admission is $ 5. A lunch will be served for $ 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Area Historical Museum, 1501 N. Seventh St.
Village clean-up
BUFFALO GAP — A village clean-up day will be conducted from 9 a.m. to noon at the Taylor County History Center, 133 N. William St. Volunteers will help the center prepare for the winter.
Swimming for dogs

Abilene Beer Summit
The Abilene Beer Summit, featuring 125 craft beers, will be open from 2-6 p.m. at Frontier Texas!, 625 N. First St. Food and live music will be available.
