A popular brand of motorcycle will be up for bid Thursday in Sarnia during an auction that will support a local home-building charity.

Habitat for Humanity Sarnia-Lambton will be hosting a live auction for a 2007 Harley-Davidson FXST Soft Tail. The event will start at 6 p.m. in the London Line ReStore building’s parking lot.

The vehicle has just 32,489 kilometres and features several upgrades, such as its rims, additional chrome and a windshield. It also comes with a GPS system, toolkit and leather saddlebags.

“We are excited about this fundraising opportunity as it has stirred up a lot of buzz here at our Habitat Sarnia-Lambton office,” David Waters, the local charity’s chief executive, said Wednesday in a statement. “We look forward to seeing everyone here tomorrow night.”

Participants must buy a $5 paddle before the auction begins, but they will be allowed to look at the motorcycle first.

The local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity recently handed over the keys to its 60th affordable home in Sarnia-Lambton since 1994.
