2019 Honda Africa Twin- What else can you buy

Honda has launched the 2019 Africa Twin in India with a price tag of Rs 13.5 lakhs. It gets a cosmetic update in the form of a new colour scheme. The motorcycle competes against the Triumph Tiger 800 XCx and the BMW F850GS. However, in the price range of the 2019 Honda Africa Twin there are six motorcycles that you can consider. Here’s what the grid looks like-

The Africa Twin’s closest rival, the Triumph Tiger XCx rides on spoke wheels. But if you want a motorcycle that is more inclined towards touring, Triumph also has the Tiger 800 XRx priced at Rs 13.39 lakhs. The XRx rides on alloy wheels and is powered by a 800cc, inline-three engine that produces 94bhp and 79Nm.  In this list, Aprilia offers the Dorsoduro 900 at Rs 13.45 lakhs. The bike is styled like a supermoto with its long-travel suspension, flat seat and road tyres. It is powered by a 896cc, V-twin engine that produces 92.5bhp and 90Nm.

Cruiser motorcycles offer a much more relaxed riding position and around the price of the 2019 Honda Africa Twin there are three options. There is the Harley-Davidson Low Rider priced at Rs 13.79 lakhs. The motorcycle has a lowered look and gets sweptback handlebars and forward-set foot pegs. The Low Rider sports oodles of chrome and is powered by a 1745cc, V-Twin that produce 144Nm of torque.

You could also have the Indian Scout at Rs 13.60 lakhs. And similar to the Harley-Davidson Low Rider, the Indian Scout offers a relaxed riding position. However, it has slightly more blacked-out components that lend it a modern look. Now taking retro-modern looks a step above is the Indian Scout Bobber which like its name suggests is a bobber-styled motorcycle based on the Indian Scout. The bike is completely blacked out and gets chunky tyres at both ends along with cropped fenders that give the Scout Bobber a custom appeal.

Lastly, there is the Suzuki Hayabusa which requires very less introduction. The Hayabusa is one of the fastest production motorcycles in the world and is priced at Rs 13.79 lakhs. It is powered by a 1340cc, inline-four engine that puts out 197bhp and 155Nm of torque.

All prices ex-showroom, Mumbai
