Two men have been charged in the theft of two Harley Davidson motorcycles; one suspect was found hiding in a closet, according to a release.
The report about the theft was received on March 13 at the Rapides Parish Sheriff Office’s Kolin substation. Both were stolen from a home off Palmer Chapel Road in the Kolin area, reads the sheriff office’s release.
As detectives began investigating, they soon learned the location of one of the stolen motorcycles. That motorcycle was recovered and was returned to its owner.
The investigation continued, revealing that two men were involved in the case. Arrest warrants were obtained for Stephen Lee Blevins, 47, of the 5800 block of Wanda Trail in Ball, and Justin Lane Boutte, 28, of the 900 block of McKeithen Drive in Alexandria.
Blevins was found and arrested on March 16, booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on charges of two counts of theft of a motor vehicle greater than $ 5,000 and one count of criminal trespassing. He was released later that day on a $ 3,250 bond.
Boutte wasn’t found until deputies received a telephone tip that the second stolen motorcycle might be at a home on Bill Jowers Road in Boyce.
When deputies went there, they found the motorcycle. They were given permission to search the house, according to the release, and found Boutte hiding in a closet.
He was arrested and booked into jail on the same charges. Boutte was released the next day on a $ 5,250 bond.
