21st annual Leesburg Bikefest
Bikefest runs Friday through Sunday with concerts, vendors, bike shows, contests and plenty of beer and food. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
It’s a uniquely free event,” said Joe Shipes, CEO of the event host the Leesburg Partnership. “Many events are having to charge entry fees, and we strive to not do that while offering some top-notch entertainment.” This year free wi fi is available in the event area.
Headlining bands include Fuel, Queensryche and Pure Prairie League. The Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday is a popular Bikefest highlight. Ride Like a Pro classes teach three motorcycle officer techniques for low-speed motorcycle handling. Stunt Shows include Team Extreme Stunt Show and Wall of Death.
Shipes said the best way to keep up with events is to download the android or iPhone app and set reminders for events you want to attend.
Don’t want to deal with parking and traffic, take a shuttle.
“There’s a great shuttle system that runs all weekend, Friday through Sunday from Tavares, Eustis and Mount Dora. It’s $ 1 each way,” Shipes said. “Come hang out and don’t worry about parking and have a good time.”
Gator Harley-Davidson, 1745 U.S. Highway 441 in Leesburg will host a kickoff party beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday. Events include live entertainment and bike shows throughout the weekend. Details: www.gatorharley.com
